Cala's West Craigs Community Pledge

Here at West Craigs, we are proud to help and support the local community.

We are committed to bringing added value and meaningful benefit to the communities in which we build, not just through the homes we create, but by investing and enhancing in the very essence of what brings a local community together. We want to listen, take action and make a difference.

To reflect our commitment to our communities over the lifecycle of our developments, we have introduced our Community Pledge. Our Pledges bring together a host of bespoke measures for each local community including activities, donations, initiatives, volunteering drives and much more.

The Community Pledge goes above and beyond planning obligations, in fact it's an evolution of work we’ve been doing for many years within the communities in which we build, ensuring that we support the local areas and people who live there.

Corstorphine Christmas Support Project

Cala's West Craigs site and sales team, as well as the wider Cala Homes (East) team, have donated much needed food and household items to this local project, coordinated by West Edinburgh Community Support Group. In 2023 the project supported 105 local families at Christmas. In addition, Cala assisted with delivery van hire and staff members have volunteered in helping the charity with the sorting, packing and delivering. Cala were also delighted to support the project again in 2024, helping over 130 local families.

Showhome of Support

Cala’s interior design team have selected 10 local businesses to inspire our latest showhomes. From artists to photographers, framers to florists, our Showhome of Support initiative allow us to support local, and showcase wonderful local businesses to visitors and homeowners alike.

Green space for all to enjoy

Cala is assisting with the upgrading of a new entrance, link paths and visitor information at the nearby 80 acre Cammo Estate Nature Reserve.

Land to Life

Land To Life is a curriculum-based schools project aimed at 7-11 year olds. The comprehensive suite of teachers’ notes and detailed lesson plans aims to educate children on how new communities are created, from land acquisition through to sales and marketing.

Stay Safe, Stay Away

Stay Safe, Stay Away offers primary schools an interactive session covering the history of building houses, the variety of fantastic and varied career opportunities within the industry, as well as educating pupils about the dangers of going into construction areas unsupervised.

Lions, and Tiger and...Panda Bears, oh my!

Cala donated 48 free entry Edinburgh Zoo passes to the children of Jigsaw nursery to allow them and their families to visit the zoo in latter 2023 prior to the Pandas leaving. This allows the children to learn about a variety of animals at this local family attraction, while also supporting the Royal Zoological Society for Scotland (RZSS) charity in doing so.

Corstorphine Community Centre

Cala are working with CCC to assist with raffle prizes for community events and craft supplies. Visit the CCC website to see all the activites available and wonderful work they do for the community.
