Our Group Sustainability team

Group Development Director - Matt Oldfield

Matt was appointed Group Development Director in 2025.  

Before joining Cala, Matt’s most recent role was with Avant Homes where he worked from 2017, most recently in the role of Regional Managing Director, previously Regional Construction Director and Head of Customer Service. Prior to this, he spent fifteen years at Persimmon and Charles Church.  

He holds a degree in Business Management, a Master’s degree in Leadership Management and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Builders. 

Matt oversees all aspects of development at Cala, including Construction, Health and Safety, Sustainability and Customer Service.  

Head of Sustainability - Kathryn Dapré

Kathryn joined Cala in 2021 and is instrumental in driving our net zero carbon and net zero greenhouse gas emissions objectives.  Kathryn directs Cala's roadmap of research, innovations and targets across key areas contributing to reducing its environmental impact, working closely with teams across the UK-wide business to empower colleagues to play their own part in the business' carbon reduction.

Group Sustainability Advisor - Oliver Cooney

Olly assists in delivering Cala's Sustainability strategy, including future amendments and enhancements whilst also collating, analysing and reporting on the various sustainability data from across the business to support this.

Other responsibilities include liaising with suppliers and professional trade bodies on new technologies and products that may be suitable for Cala, as well as liaising with Cala regions and providing direct support to assist them in meeting corporate sustainability objectives.

Group Sustainability Advisor - Parsa Malleson

Having joined Cala in 2024 with a background in Carbon Management, Parsa supports the implementation of Cala's Sustainability Strategy across the business. He provides support to our regions, ensuring we are actively progressing towards becoming a more sustainable business.

He is working to secure a verified Science Based Target, enabling Cala to follow a credible path to net-zero in line with the Paris Agreement. Parsa also calculates our carbon footprint, analyses and updates our embodied carbon models, and reviews the climate risks posed to Cala both now and in the future.

Sustainability Data Analyst - Chris McKenna-Ell

Chris analyses Cala’s sustainability data allowing us to create reports on our environmental impact.

He also compares Cala’s sustainability performance with previous years to determine if we are on track to achieving our environmental targets and how much of an impact our new strategies have had on our carbon footprint.

Sustainability Committees

Sustainability Committees have been established in each of our offices to brainstorm, research and implement initiatives which will help bring about positive change at a local-level – from energy saving and recycling measures within our offices, to employee wellbeing and meaningful community support initiatives.

 

Sustainability Steering Group

The Sustainability Steering Group meets quarterly throughout the year to ensure that the key elements of sustainability, which relate to the technological, environmental and economical advancements, are being driven throughout the relevant departments within Cala.
