Couple Blessing, 28 and Chiedozie, 34 had outgrown their older home in Parnwell, Peterborough and were ready to buy a home of their own. With seven-month-old son, Gosife Okafor, they were on the look for something more suitable for a family of three, in a better neighbourhood, so the couple began house hunting.
Having spoken to friends who had already moved to the Cala Homes Hampton Lakes development in Peterborough, Blessing and Chiedozie decided to give the development some real thought.
Blessing said: “We’d heard a lot of good things about Cala, in fact some of our friends had bought from them recently, so we decided to at least take a look and see what opportunities they had. When we visited, the first thing we noticed was that it was such a beautiful environment, with a lovely lake view, we just couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. The whole area is so classy and neat, we knew it was perfect.”
As first-time buyers, Blessing and Chiedozie took advantage of Cala’s five per cent Deposit Contribution scheme, in which the couple’s five per cent deposit was matched by Cala Homes to make up the full ten per cent they needed. As they were recommended by their friends, Ademola and Toluope, they also received Cala’s £1000 Recommend a Friend bonus.
Chiedozie continued: “It was a simple process, the sales team made it very easy, they were always there to direct and advise. As first-time buyers, it was comforting to have the whole process explained to us.
“It wasn’t difficult at all, and it ended up being pretty fast because we started the process at the end of November and in March we were already in our new home.”
As this is their first new build home, the couple were very excited to move into a house as the first ever occupiers, Chiedozie said: “When we think back to our older home, to be very honest, the difference is incomparable. An older property doesn’t compare with a brand-new house; it’s like living in heaven. It’s so nice knowing everything is brand-new, and we’re the first people to occupy the house, the joy that comes out of that is incomparable.”
Blessing and Chiedozie were so impressed with their new home, they couldn’t wait to recommend the development to their friends, who later moved in. In fact, they reserved the plot right next door.
Blessing said: “Our friends heard us talk about our new home and knew they had to view the plot next door because we’ve spoken so highly of the development. We're now all neighbours, as our friends Ademola and Tolulope were the ones to recommend us originally.”
Having moved in just a few months prior, Ademola and Tolulope were quick to refer their friends.
Tolulope said: “We love how peaceful and welcoming the neighbourhood is - our new home really feels like the perfect fit for us. We referred Chiedozie and Blessing because we wanted them to experience the same sense of comfort and community we’ve found here. It’s incredibly special having friends become neighbours. We already shared a strong bond, and now it feels like we’re building a future side by side."
