Oxfordshire activities

We’ve listed some of our favourite places within the county, which are a must-visit to explore, enjoy and help you keep fit.

  1. Wittenham Clumps

Located directly beside our Cala Nobel Park development in Didcot are the Wittenham Clumps, one of South Oxfordshire’s most loved landmarks and the most highly visited free greenspace in the region.

Standing proudly beside the River Thames, they offer several stunning walks and hikes with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and Didcot.

  1. Bletchingdon Park

Starting from Bicester town centre and not far from our Cala at Kingsmere development is a stunning cycling route that will take you to the popular Bletchingdon Park.

This 18-mile round trip is a relaxing bike ride and is suited for many fitness levels.

Along the journey, you will pass the peaceful River Cherwell, which offers wild swimming spots and the historic Bletchingdon medieval manor house.

Oxfordshire events to take part in

  1. Run Jericho

Run Jericho is a scenic 5k and 10k multi-terrain run that loops around beautiful North Oxford, taking in the streets of Jericho, Worcester College grounds, Oxford Canal, Port Meadow and Burgess Field.

In 2011, parents at St Barnabas Primary School started the first Run Jericho to raise money for the school and foster links with the local community.

11 runs later, Run Jericho is still going strong with numbers growing every year.

All runs will take place on Sunday 9th June and there is also a kid's one-mile fun run around the streets of Jericho for children aged from four to six so the whole family can get involved.

  1. Bike Oxford

Bike Oxford is a cycling event that explores the fantastic sights of the city of Oxford and the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds.

This popular Oxfordshire event is returning to Oxford University Rugby Club on Sunday 23rd June and offers a choice of routes heading out to the Chilterns, provisionally 26, 55 and 77-miles long.

The weekend will also feature another popular event, Walk Oxford.

This walking event explores historic Oxford and has a choice of three routes (approximately 10, 15 and 20-miles) to choose from and all walkers will receive a medal at the finish line.

Oxfordshire fitness groups and organisations

  1. Go Active

Go Active is dedicated to helping everyone who lives in Oxfordshire get moving.

It brings together a wide range of physical activities in Oxfordshire such as walking and jogging groups, dance and fitness classes, family activities and much more – there truly is something for everyone.

Healthy, active children is one of the organisation's main priorities and every year it runs the brilliant Oxfordshire School Games programme that inspires young people to be more active. This amazing programme is now benefiting more than 5,500 Oxfordshire students.

  1. Live Well Oxfordshire

This website is run by the Oxfordshire County Council and is a great place to find events in Oxfordshire.

It has Oxfordshire activities and sports to suit all desires, such as Pickleball, mental wellbeing activities, over 60s classes, indoor tennis, five-a-side football, amateur boxing lessons and yoga, to name a few.

Keeping fit at home

With plenty of green space on the doorstep of both of our Cala developments in Oxfordshire, this summer could be the perfect time to move home.

Take advantage of the local groups and events as the weather starts to pick up.

Cala at Nobel Park features a selection of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes for sale in Didcot surrounded by the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.

Whilst our Kingsmere development only has just two stylish two-bedroom apartments remaining, it’s the final chance to purchase at this popular location. Situated amongst picturesque country surroundings, Kingsmere in Bicester offers the best of both worlds.

Not to mention, both of these new build homes in Oxfordshire all feature sizeable gardens so you can make the most of the outdoors.
